Every business owner and marketer have their own recipe for creating content that delivers value, entertainment, and high engagement. It takes trial and error to find the strategy that works best for your brand, brand vision and goals, and your audience.
In this blog post, I am sharing my 10 non-negotiable tricks in creating high-quality content that cuts through the noise on a global scale.
1. Market Research for Content Topics
Discover what your audience wants to learn from your account and use it as your content topic. Utilize tools like Answer the Public, TikTok trends, Twitter trends, and popular hashtags.
2. Optimizing Hashtags and Timing
Identify the optimal hashtag and posting time using a social media scheduler like Metricool or a native app. I typically schedule content right before the time when user activity is at its peak.
3. Add a Strategic Call-to-Action (CTA)
Encourage engagement with a strategic CTA—whether it’s a question, a call to follow for more, or a link in your bio. People tend to skip if you don’t call to action; it’s important to remind them.
4. Use Their Language
Connect genuinely with your audience by using their language and understanding their culture. Avoid a translational tone and strategically choose a voice that resonates with your audience.
5. Inbound Marketing
Engage with your audience both before and after content publication on various platforms. Show your audience that you genuinely care.
6. High Branding is Not Always the Answer
We live in a society full of high technology, and we seek true expertise, not just another AI like ChatGPT. Get rid of filters, show behind-the-scenes (BTS), reveal vulnerability, and connect with your audience like a human. Add a human touch to your copywriting, and avoid corporate looks, even if you run a B2B-based business.
7. Consider Creating Your Own Character
If you feel it’s not right to use your own face to market your product or service, or you are not ready to show your employees or partners, creating engagement is challenging nowadays. Especially if you’ve just started social media marketing or have low engagement in general. Think about creating a character. Always remember—Human touch is a key for marketing. We don’t want to get scammed or anything.
8. Answer the Question ‘So What?‘
Ensure that your content has a clear purpose and actionable steps. If you can’t answer ‘So What?’ then your audience might disengage.
9. Analyze High-Performing Reels/Posts
If you don’t have much content yet, analyze your competitors’ posts and identify patterns that lead to high engagement.
10. Social Listening
Explore comments, inboxes, and tags, using them as inspiration for your content. Understand your audience’s psychology and incorporate it into your strategy.
PLUS, avoid selling your service/product all the time. Please share how you can serve them (especially in the beginning), mostly not pitching yourself/your product/service all the time.
