How to Leverage your LinkedIn Service Page in Gaining Leads
LinkedIn’s service page allows professionals to showcase services, making it easy for clients to find and connect with experts in their field. But, there’s an extra feature in LinkedIn’s algorithm that most people miss, and it’s what’s driving leads my way.
By optimizing your service page and toggling on a few essential settings, you’ll increase your visibility and connect with clients searching for what you offer. Here’s a complete guide to setting up, optimizing, and capitalizing on your LinkedIn service page.
Step 1: Create Your LinkedIn Service Page
Creating a service page is the first essential step. Here’s how:
- Open Your Profile Settings – Head to the LinkedIn profile options and select “Service Page.”
- Set Up Service Details – Add relevant services you provide, such as SEO, social media management, content writing, or consulting. The more specific and aligned to your expertise, the better.
- Add Media and Reviews – Showcase past work and client testimonials. This enhances credibility and appeals to potential leads.
The LinkedIn algorithm promotes profiles that clearly outline expertise, which means filling out all fields, adding media, and providing reviews can give your page a boost.
Step 2: The “Receive Matched Service Requests” Feature (The Game Changer!)
Here’s where things get exciting. LinkedIn has an “Additional Project Matching” feature that can be toggled on in your service page settings. This feature means you’ll not only receive direct client requests but also be matched with additional projects that align with your services!
- Go to the “Receive Matched Service Requests” Option – This allows LinkedIn to match your profile with relevant client requests.
- Toggle On the Feature – Once it’s on, LinkedIn will automatically share client requests with you based on the services you’ve listed.
You can take advantage of this feature with LinkedIn Premium. Additionally, as of late, I’ve noticed an increase of poor-quality leads with the feature. In the earlier stages of testing this feature, I generated quality leads 50% of the time. Recently, low-quality leads come across my page 80% of the time.
This abrupt change in lead quality may be narrowed down to the fact most brands and companies are not aware of the feature. It is possible that the feature is still experimenting with different factors, so keep an open mind when playing around with this setting!
Step 3: Optimize Your Profile for Visibility
When clients find your profile, a well-optimized page will make a great first impression and build trust.
- Enable Messaging from Non-Connections – Let potential clients contact you even if you’re not connected by toggling “Allow Messages from All LinkedIn Members.”
- Complete Your Profile – Include up-to-date experience, relevant keywords, and a professional summary that highlights your expertise.
- Add Media and Certifications – Showcase your work, and any certifications to further demonstrate your authority in your field.
Step 4: Responding to Service Requests
When a client sends a service request, timing and personalization are key.
- Personalize Your Reply – Greet the client by name and mention specific details about the project to show you’ve read their request.
- Add Value – Briefly outline your approach, attach relevant portfolio pieces, and offer to answer any questions they may have. To make it easier for potential clients to navigate your services, you can make it a habit to include a brief rundown of your services in your introductory message and project proposal.
- Stand Out from Other Competitors – It is worth noting that you are not the only candidate the client is reaching out to. Thus, you have to sell your defining factors and abilities to get the opportunity. Highlight your latest projects, success stories with previous clients, and link them to your portfolio.
Hi [Client Name], thank you for reaching out! I see you’re looking for help with [Service]. I’d be happy to discuss how my expertise in [Field/Skill] can support your project. [EXPLAIN YOUR RELEVANT EXPERIENCE HERE]. How about a 15-minute call to discuss this further?
Step 5: Follow-Up (Without Being Overbearing)
If a client doesn’t respond within a week, a gentle follow-up can be helpful. Aim to show professionalism without overwhelming them.
Hi [Client Name], just wanted to follow up on this! I’d love the opportunity to discuss how we can collaborate on this project. Looking forward to your response.
Follow up once or just twice—spamming LinkedIn prospects is inappropriate, especially as they have not formally requested to work with you directly.
