It is quite common among freelancers and business owners to hop on cold messaging without content to show for their credibility and skills. In doing so, this stagnates your opportunity to land deals with premium clients.
I have had my fair share of mistakes in lead generation, so for today’s blog post, we’ll be discussing my streamlined process to secure 10K a month through the right social platforms.
When it comes to B2B lead generation, people often think about “sales” by using outreach(cold) messages, not content marketing thinking it can bring unqualified leads.
However, outreach messages themselves can bring severely poor results if you don’t have valuable content in the platform or don’t provide value first. I mean – think about this -let’s say you want to buy something over $3,000 then I’m pretty sure – you are going to check out if the deal is really legit – at least there should be a strong reason to pay it.
You don’t have to have a website nowadays, but having the right platform to market yourself/services is really important to bring qualified leads.
So today, I want to talk about how I consistently (once a week or bi-weekly) get qualified leads to secure 10K a month or 100K a year.
There are several hubs where I usually get leads.
2 years ago, Upwork was my go-to platform to secure clients since the online presence was zero. So I had to attract local people who wanted to market in both Korean and English by meeting them in person to close the deal.
Luckily enough, with my marketing awards and past marketing experience in South Korea, and fluency in English, I was able to secure 3 to 4 clients a month and I was able to hit 100K a year within 1 year after entering the freelance journey, that was literally 5X the income than I used to get.
However, I worked literally 24 hours even with just 3-4 clients a month, because I worked like a full-time CMO for each set of 3-4 clients. Even I had to get a phone call at 1 am from a client… no boundaries.
2023 me is different. I secure clients with a better deal and more respect. And I don’t have to work 24 hours to secure a 6-figure business.
How is all of this happening?
The power of content. I built my online presence, through LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, and TikTok.
However, the most cost-effective and time-effective tool for lead generation was Linkedin.
Here’s a brief explanation of how I built an online presence through Linkedin as a freelancer/service provider who markets yourself in several languages.
1. Know what your dream is or your mission is.
In my case, I have a HUGE passion for building a global movement in the marketing field, bringing diversity and inclusion and gender equality. And even if I didn’t have many connections worldwide, I tried to build it through connecting with them. For your case, it could be hitting a 6-figure income, listing your name in Forbes, or presenting yourself at TedTalk.
2. Select your main language.
Using your language in your local market could be easier than promoting yourself through English. Since there are tons of competitors out there when it comes to marketing yourself in English. However, think about your dream. If you want to become a global freelancer/service provider, then you should promote yourself in English as a main. A pro tip – for generating more engagement, use your mother tongue for your title, and hashtags. We say this as a “hook”
3. Thoroughly optimize your profile.
Anything can relate to your dream job. You never know what your prospect is looking for; for instance, my background as a dental hygienist attracts prospects in the dentistry industry looking to market their products/services
4. Connect with like-minded people and your dream client.
You should build a community to share your content. Send some warm messages about why you’d like to connect with them. Don’t be too sales-sy in the beginning if you don’t have a proper reason for that.
5. Publish your content.
People used to ask me, ‘I have no idea what to post’. What about sharing your personal journey first? Something related to your business/career and something really you are passionate about. And then if you feel comfortable sharing your expertise, please do it as much as you can.
6. Forget about your metrics for a while.
It won’t bring immediate results. Just consistently publish the content to serve them. It could be emotional level, it could be educational level.
7. Learn SEO strategy.
Your prospect looks for specific keywords. What is your niche? What makes you different?
8. Think about what they want or need.
If you don’t resonate with your audience, Just go back to #4 and connect with more people who resonate with your content. Alternatively, wait for the algorithm to detect your content, for at least 2 months, or rethink your content if you are truly serving them.
9. Be real.
People want real, genuine connections. I know in the beginning, it will be hard to find your voice, but please try to publish your content with your tone of voice.
10. Register for my 'Become A 6-Figure Global Freelancer' Workshop.
It’s completely free and designed for freelancers/service providers who speak English as a second language and want to build a 6-figure business. You will learn all about LinkedIn lead generation step by step and more, and how I built a 6-figure business within a year.
